Social networks, just my opinion

Since I am medically retired now, I spend alot of time on the computer now. Yes, I have the facebook, myspace, myyearbook and twitter. The only one that i go to everyday is the facebook. Why? Just to see what old friends are up too. Yes, I post the family pics. With a family as large as what I have, this beats email pics to each other. We simply post and then steal from each other.

What I don't understand is how people can spend so much time on these sites. There is no knowledge base here. Can't learn a damn thing except people think I'm mean for taking cats to a kill pound. I, myself, perfer a site that I can learn something. Since my mind is starting to forget, I find myself reading things I have already read. But that's ok because one day I'll have some ink and I'll just print it out.

What is so fun about the apps on facebook? Yes, they are nice and some even let people know that you are thinking of them and yes, you can send a bunch at a time. I guess I'm old fashion. An email or a comment is more personal that a mass mailing of the same thing.

What I'm seeing is my generation is on facebook playing games while the kids are on the game systems playing. And we get onto them to get out and play. Some of us need to take our own advice.

On a good day, when my dsl isn't slow, I'll log onto about 10 to 15 tech reports, my email, the yard sale site, read two newpapers, check out the sales ads of the local stores, watch a few shows that I like (thru youtube and netflix) and maybe if nothing good on free tv, watch a movie online if the site hasn't been shut down. Yes, I go to those sites to watch the movies still in the theaters.
If I miss one of my free shows, I'll go to the network and watch it there.

It's nice not to see some of my friends on facebook. That tells me they have a life but then again if some of them didn't post everyday, I would wonder if something is wrong. So, pushlishing the apps to my wall lets me know they are ok.

With that in mind, I'll leave you with this: Becareful what you post, it can come back and bite you in the butt.
